Some time ago when I had a business coaching session led by Judy Feierstein, I’ve complained that I’ve got too much routine tasks which don’t let me focus on bigger issues. Judy smiled and commented: “Cannot work because busy working?” This one phrase gave me a lot. In fact, even when you need to resolve big issues, you make it by resolving a number of routine ones. They’re small and seem distracting but in the end you understand that without accomplishing them you wouldn’t ever get your bigger goal.

So, now without any complains, but I was really “busy working” last month. I didn’t have time to take a breath and tell something to you in my blog. Apologize for that but what I came to this moment with, can tell a lot:

  • I’ve got lovely son Mark! He’s 3 weeks by now.
  • Thanks to the financial help from the Ministry of Absorption and advices of Dan Davner, I’ve got Sony NEX-5N camera and started some experiments with video.
  • Thanks to generous photographer from Haifa Vitaly Kardashov, I’ve got EVERYTHING for manual photo printing and manual film developing. Everything but experience.
  • With help of our design bureau SlovoZaSlovo and personally designer Marina Tschernjawskaya, I’ve done a 2013 calendar with my marine landscapes. Northern marine landscapes, I must add. I’ll write a separate post about that.
  • As a photographer I took part in a great fundraising activity by Melabev called “Walkathon”. It was a night hike under a moonlight, with delicious landscapes all around and beautiful participants. I gonna tell about it a bit more later.
  • I’ve started 150-hours “Working Hebrew” course, and hopefully by the end of it I’ll feel myself much more comfortable speaking Hebrew with my clients.
  • I’ve added several new topics, going far beyond child photography, to my commercial portfolio. Ready to accept assignments.
  • Finally, with help of Sonya Tepikin we have done a useful Services & Pricing page at this web site, and made some other web improvements.

That’s what I’ve filled November with!

Follow me up, something great gonna happen here! :) Happy Hanukkah!

I’m the only child of my parents and was always dreaming about a brother or a sister.

3 days ago our family became one person larger!

Here’s my son Mark. He is 6 minutes old and he is casting his first glance at this strange world.

He was born at the moment when a rocket alert disrupted the calm Friday evening in Jerusalem.
We’ll take care of you, Mark. Wish you never heard this sound again…

The next day his sister came to greet her newborn brother. She is so tender. She’s renamed all her dolls after him and calls them Mark.

Being a photographer influences the way you prepare to assist during the delivery. Silly enough but the night before leaving for a hospital I was thinking about the lenses which I gonna take with me, settings I gonna use, and stuff like that. It sounds really wild but I’m sure it pays off when after years you look together with your grown-up children at their first funny pictures.

Israeli’s Ministry of Absorption half a year ago has recognized me as an “excellent photographer” :). Official recognition is a funny thing but pleasant. Even more pleasant it became when I’ve discovered that this status lets me purchase some photographic gear at the ministry’s expense.

I’ve started to think what to apply for. And I’ve realized that it’s a chance for me to start making a bit more video. I love shooting video clips and get a lot of fun from it. I even participated as a cameraman in several amateur video production projects (like the one below), although I never was making it professionally.

This video I’ve filmed in 2009 with my old cheap Panasonic MiniDV camera.

Anyway, I’ve applied for a Sony NEX 5n which is a compact mirrorless camera which lets attach to it any of my Nikon lenses. This camera is really small and looks funny with “real” lenses. But I saw Shmuel Cohen working with it while shooting a wedding, and found out that this small box can really make a change.

So I’m looking forward for all sorts of practice with making motion. At least those who would in the nearest future apply for a child photography session will for sure get an additional video session absolutely free.

Apply for emotion and add a motion!
